Golden Circle with the Adventure Park
Add the Adventure Park to your Golden Circle tour for a truly unique experience. The only one of its kind in Iceland, the park is nestled in the breathtaking Geothermal Rift Valley of Nesjavellir. Just 35 km from the capital and 20 km from Þingvellir National Park, it’s easily accessible via the scenic Route 435, which winds past the foothills of Hengill Volcano. Stop at the Adventure Park for an unforgettable adventure in this remarkable setting.
The area also boasts several marked hiking trails, including routes leading to Mount Hengill to explore the hot springs or down to Lake Þingvellir through the Nesjahraun lava field, where you’ll pass the Eldborg crater, one of Iceland’s most beautiful craters. For a more relaxed experience, dip your toes into the soothing hot creek nearby, or enjoy a coffee at the Ion Hotel, just 700 meters away, while the kids have fun on the ropes course.
The Adventure Park
The Adventure Park is open every day in June, July, and August, and on weekends in May and September. Be sure to book your visit in advance.
Opening hours are from 11:00 to 17:00 (please note the last bookable slot is at 15:30).
The park features about 50 different obstacles at heights of 1m, 5m, and 10m, as well as a thrilling zip-line. You can also add the Giant Swing to your experience. Standing at 12 meters, it’s the only one of its kind in Iceland. This group activity involves the group pulling you up, and you decide when to take the plunge. Pull the cord… and down you go—don’t miss out on this unforgettable thrill!
Duration: 1-2 hours, depending on the program, the number of people in the park, and the participants’ interest.
Children aged 6-9 years must be accompanied by an adult on the obstacle course. Simply observing from the ground is not enough. They often require assistance to navigate the park, as they may not be able to reach the safety cables to transfer the Cow Tail to the next cable.
Our climbing equipment is certified for individuals up to 130 kg. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate individuals who exceed this weight limit.
SAFETY
SAFETY IS IMPORTANT TO US!
We use the legendary Smart Belay X system from Edelrid, now featuring innovative magnetic technology, ensuring continuous safety and maximum freedom of movement at the Adventure Park.
As a proud member of the European Ropes Course Association (ERCA), we adhere to European standards for the park’s construction, safety equipment, staff training, and participant safety.
Please note that our climbing equipment is certified for individuals up to 130 kg, and we cannot accommodate individuals who exceed this weight limit in the park.
OUR FACILITIES
A hot creek flows past the ropes course. While it’s not suitable for bathing, it’s a pleasant spot to dip your toes in and relax.
We have indoor facilities and an on-site toilet. The house provides a great view of the park, making it a comfortable spot for those waiting. Participants are welcome to enjoy their packed lunch inside.
We offer complimentary tea and coffee; however, no other refreshments are available at the park. For additional dining options, a restaurant is located at the Ion Hotel, just 700 meters away.
